About This Tool

Molarity (M) is the most widely used concentration unit in chemistry, expressing the number of moles of solute dissolved per litre of solution. This calculator covers two common operations: calculating molarity directly from moles and volume using C = n/V, and solving dilution problems using C₁V₁ = C₂V₂. Volume can be entered in litres or millilitres and is converted internally. The dilution module calculates the final concentration after adding solvent to a stock solution — useful for preparing working solutions from concentrated reagents in laboratory settings. Note that molarity is temperature-dependent, since solution volume changes with thermal expansion while the mole count remains fixed; for temperature-sensitive applications, molality is the more appropriate unit.
